DUBAI FINANCIAL Market (DFM) showcased an all-inclusive array of state-of-the-art new electronic services and smart phone applications during the recently concluded information technology exhibition, Gitex in Dubai.

Visitors to Gitex 2013 had the opportunity to learn about  DFM’s most recent electronic services and smart phone applications that enable investors to trade listed securities and  track trading activity of listed companies and the DFM General Index as well as company disclosures and market news.

Moreover, DFM displayed new electronic financial services including the ‘e-IPO’ Portal, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) management solution and the cash dividend distribution service via IVESTOR card.

Trading of securities

The ‘e-IPO’ portal directly links IPO and Rights Issue receiving banks with the DFM clearing and depository system, aiming to conclude the allotment and extra amounts refund processes more swiftly than under the previous procedures. This allows the listing and trading of securities to take place the day after the close of the IPO.

Through this portal, investors can subscribe to IPOs by filling in a form available on the IPO – dedicated website which will ultimately save their time and effort, decrease mistakes and ensure information accuracy.

During the exhibition, visitors to the DFM stand also had the opportunity to become acquainted with the AGM Registration kiosk, a DFM innovative service offered to listed companies and investors which represents an efficient solution to organise AGMs through easy registration of shareholders, voting, and board elections using IVESTOR card.

The kiosk also ensures voting accuracy and generates statistical reports during the AGM. It has been successfully operated during many AGMs including the DFM Annual Meeting held in 2013, and it will be further developed to make voting via internet possible for the first time in the UAE.

Essa Kazim, Managing Director and Chief Executive of DFM said: “DFM’s participation at Gitex provided visitors a perfect opportunity to gain more knowledge about the most recent electronic services and smart phone solutions directly offered by DFM or through its licensed brokerage firms.”

“These services reflect DFM’s constant commitment to innovation and development as well as taking its services to the customers rather than waiting them to approach us. In this regard, DFM proactively works in line with the government’s various initiatives in general and the smart phone initiative in particular.”
